Prior to joining Postpay in 2022, he spent 9 years at Bain & Company and was a board member for TLC Children's Home. He is also a University of Cape Town alumnus with a BSc in Civil Engineering and an honours in Financial Analysis and Portfolio Management.

Company profile

Founded in 2019 by Tariq Sheikh and Dani Molina Carmona, Postpay works with global brands such as H&M, Footlocker, Dermalogica and GCC merchants such as The Entertainer and Squat Wolf to provide a seamless BNPL service. The company currently operates in the GCC region with plans on expanding across the Middle East and Northern Africa (MENA). According to Forbes Middle East, they are the 11th most-funded startup in the MENA region in 2022 with a cumulative investment of $63.5 million most notably by BNPL leader Afterpay.

From their website:

Our purpose is to transform the existing retail status-quo by offering straightforward and accessible financial products to our customers, who are at the core of our offering, while simultaneously creating true value for our retail merchants. A generational shift has seen millennial shoppers shy away from traditional credit. In fact, the majority of credit is used as a matter of necessity rather than preference.

Don't miss this opportunity to gain insight from an industry expert on the fast-evolving world of BNPL.

Finhub Practitioner Seminars

This seminar is part of a series which has been created to expose our students to exceptional individuals in the African Fintech space working on innovative solutions to address the large unbanked population on our continent. Fintech in Africa has received the largest share of funding in recent years, and this trend is expected to increase. As the only dedicated Fintech Master's program on the African continent, one of our goals is to connect our students with leading fintech companies across the continent. In the past, we have had speakers from Nala, Stitch Money, Visa, Spoon Money, Consensys, Authentium, Investec and more. Because seminars have attracted interest from students across campus, we have decided to open up attendance to all students interested in fintech and related topics.
