About Navigating a Career in the Age of AI
In this seminar, Therese Nieuwenhuizen, shares her perspective on the dynamic world of technology and how it has changed in less than a decade. She will be discussing her experience moving from data engineering to machine learning and ultimately to a product owner and technical lead role.

About the Speaker
Therese Nieuwenhuizen obtained her bachelor's degree in Mathematical Statistics from the University of Pretoria in 2017. Soon after, she moved to Cape Town and began her journey at Spatialedge in 2018. Over the years, she has had the opportunity to build a variety of innovative solutions, including machine learning frameworks for a massive telecommunications company and a data engineering solutions for fintech companies. Today, she is the Product Owner and Technical Lead for Spatialedge's Data Engineering product offering.

This seminar is part of a series which has been created to expose UCT MPhil in Fintech students to exceptional individuals in the African Fintech space working on innovative solutions to address the large unbanked population on our continent. Fintech in Africa has received the largest share of funding in recent years, and this trend is expected to increase. As the only dedicated Fintech Master's program on the African continent, one of our goals is to connect our students with leading fintech companies across the continent.
